They are portrayed in roles that do not reflect the potential of their success in the world. This study looks at how women are portrayed in Kuwaiti magazine advertisements. A content analysis was used to analyze three high circulated magazines in Kuwait---Osrati, Al-yaqatha, and Al-Nahda. The issues were analyzed from 1980-2004. The study looked at the images of women portrayed in these magazines and found that the most dominant image was the sex object who is used for decorative purposes to sell the product. The results raise some ethical concern on the representation of women and calls for further research on the effects of these messages on their self-esteem and conceptualizations of certain roles. | Subject | : | Communication and the arts; Social sciences; Journalism; Womens studies; 0453:Womens studies; 0391:Journalism | Added Entry | : | C.
