Abstract : Education is confronting some unprecedented challenges today like the issues of social justice, equity, ethics, fairness, and diversity in the backdrop of binaries of mind, body and soul. Spiritually driven educational leadership is one of the responses to the present situation in education. Michael E. Dantley has proposed a notion of critical spirituality and faith-based leadership. This thesis argues for the connection between Dantley's notion and conceptions of spiritually motivated educational leadership in Ismailism which is based on a holistic worldview grounded injustice, inclusion, equity and spirituality. The thesis offers an account of the model of leadership based on twenty five speeches of His Highness Prince Karim Agakhan, the present Imam of the Ismailis. His leadership is a model of spiritually driven educational leadership, and the analysis presented in the thesis brings out the aspects of critical spirituality in Ismailism and its universal tenets.
