Abstract : The advent of Internet in our era of rapid technology expansion has revolutionized the way business is done like never before. The Internet offers us its virtually limitless resources and as can be seen in many developed countries, enterprises are already reaping the rewards that technology has on offer. The integration of e-commerce in current business practices has transformed the way business is done. While it is apparent that e-commerce has numerous previously unexplored advantages for businesses, especially the small and medium sized enterprises in Iran, this review endeavors to explore this same very area. Currently most industries in Iran are the level 1 or level 2 when it comes to e-commerce application. Even at this level, the benefits of e-commerce and its consequent positive effects on export growth are apparent. This warrants more extensive and methodological approach to this issue, and is the primary aim of this study, to review and generalize facts related to the impact of e-commerce on export development for the small and medium sized enterprises in Iran. To serve this purpose, this review has adopted a proposed research frame of reference, methodology, and design, as discussed later. The findings of this review let us conclude that e-commerce indeed has an influential bearing on the rate of export growth. With widespread and systematic integration of e-commerce in current practices of the small and medium sized enterprises, it is possible to remove some of the export barriers, leading to export growth. The findings of the study also lead us to draw some recommendations, that can further improve the current e-commerce prevalence in Iran, and the data will serve as an aid and tool for future research studies on this topic, and also serve as a framework for support policy decisions.
