Abstract:In 2003, the George W. Bush administration took the country to war to eliminate a threat before it materialized. Four and a half years later, still locked down in Iraq, opponents have charged the administration with fighting a Neoconservative war. But what does it mean to be Neoconservative? Who are Neoconservatives and where did the movement come from? Are the members of the Bush administration Neoconservatives? This paper seeks to address all of these issues, with a final section on what, if any, Neoconservative principles should remain a pillar of U.S. foreign policy.
