Abstract	:	This research focuses on a controversial British military figure that many consider to be a true hero of the twentieth century---Thomas Edward Lawrence. The events surrounding the life and accomplishments of Lawrence have long ignited serious debate among scholars and historians regarding the veracity of his claims. This study examines several factors: the opinions and evidence in support of and against Lawrence, Lawrence's personality issues that may have biased historians, and external influences that played significant roles in the creation of the "Lawrence myth." Although this investigation was unable to find conclusive evidence to support Colonel Lawrence's standing as a true military hero, it established that Lawrence was a highly skilled and effective military strategist. The tactics he developed during the Arab Revolt proved to be fundamentally sound, and have become an integral part of modern-day guerilla warfare.
