Abstract:LIS1 (Lissencephly 1) and its interacting partner Ndel1 (Nuclear Distribution Element Like 1) play pivotal cellular roles, affecting mitosis, cell migration and intracellular transport. They act through modulation of cytoskeletal dynamics and of cytoplsmic Dynein activity. The importance of LIS1 and Ndel1 is prominent in neurons: these cells rely on Dynein-mediated cell migration and on transport of cargo over long distances.
