Abstract	:	Only six years away from the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) deadline of 2015, the international aid community is scrambling to fulfill the lofty obligations for development set by the United Nations Millennium Declaration in 2001. With the World Health Organization beset by enormous pressure to report progress in development, the role of high quality statistics has moved to the forefront of discussion. This study analyzed the availability of data for the evaluation of MDG 6, the goal that focuses on decreasing the global burden of disease, in the city of Louga, Senegal. Past research has suggested that conventional methods of obtaining MDG 6 data are inadequate; therefore, this study investigated whether alternative sources of data exist. Limiting the scope of research to a municipal environment ensured that the two months of fieldwork in Senegal were exhaustive. The results of this study found the administrative and service records from the local health facilities to be of limited benefit in the evaluation of MDG 6; however, the data were useful as inputs into an Integrated Health Model to produce a cost analysis of the infrastructure necessary to achieve MDG 6.
