This book brings together the widely scattered observations about Permian rocks of the northern part of Pangea. In Volume 2 the conventional stratigraphic framework is applied to a variety of Permian basins from North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Finally, the remarkable hydrocarbon and phosphate resources of these regions are described and discussed in papers which focus primarily on well-studies occurrences in North America and the former Soviet Union. The reader will find a synthesis of current geologic knowledge and an outline of modern trends of interpretation for a time interval which is receiving increased attention.
