Abstract
:
Rather than present another book about the techniques and applications of scanning probe microscopy (SPM), Moreno-Flores (nanobiotechnology) and Toca-Herrera (biophysics, both U. of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna) focus on what it cannot do, and suggest experimental approaches that circumvent these limitations. Their approaches are based on combining SPM with two or more techniques that are complementary in order to combine their capabilities and cancel out their limitations. The topics include SPM as an imaging tool, the eye at the microscale and nanoscale, adding label-free chemical spectroscopy, SPM and surface-sensitive techniques, SPM to measure surface interactions, and microinterferometry.
