Abstract
:
This monograph summarizes the latest knowledge of the clinical application of interferons in malignant disease with emphasis on hairy cell leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic myloid leukaemia, lung cancer, melanoma and renal carcinoma. There are chapters on the use of animal models for studying the anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activities of interferons and the relationship between endogenous and exogenous interferon production and oncogene expression. The clinical use of interferons in combination with cytotoxic drugs and radiation is reviewed together with guidelines for future directions of clinical and experimental research.
