Abstract : This volume publishes advances in the molecular regulation of myelopoiesis, depicting current ideas about the way cells progress from progenitors in the bone marrow and spleen to mature erythroid cells, macrophages, and neutrophilic granulocytes. In particular, emphasis is on signal transduction and transcriptional regulation of genes encoding growth factor receptors, functional macrophage and promyelocyte proteins, as well as molecules that control proliferation. A main feature of the volume is the examination of abnormal regulation of myelopoiesis as seen in leukemias and acute myelogenous leukemias (AML) in man. Since it is an overview of a recent workshop, this publication presents some of the newest and most exciting information in the field.
