Abstract
:
This book is intended for all scientists and engineers engaged in research into oxide conductors. After a brief introductory chapter, the book begins with a review of the various classes of conducting oxides, their properties and crystal structures. At the same time, it introduces the physical concepts necessary to understand their transport properties, i.e. conduction behaviour. The third chapter presents a theoretical treatment of the strongly coupled many-electron / phonon system, and describes in detail the phenomenon of electron correlation. The final chapter, which constitutes the largest part of the book, presents a detailed description of the electronic transport properties of typical oxides, including the high-temperature superconducting Cu oxides. The original Japanese edition on which this book is based has been thouroughly revised to incorporate the latest research results. The presentation is at the level of a graduate textbook, but students and researchers alike will also find this volume invaluable as a source of reference.
