Impotence is now recognised as a common and distressing problem which has previously been neglected by the medical profession. New therapies have increased the awareness of doctors and the general public of the problem, and sufferers now expect effective treatment. Diabetologists have long ignored the problem even though it is perhaps the most common complication of diabetic men: these days there is no excuse for a diabetes service not to offer a range of treatment for erectile dysfunction. Thus, all physicians involved in the care of diabetic patients should have an understanding of the management of impotence and Impotence in Diabetes aims to provide this understanding, covering the pathophysiology and epidemiology of diabetic impotence as well as its modern management.
