Abstract	:	This clinical dissertation explores immigrant women's experiences, particularly those who emigrated from Iran, and the impact of gender role changes on their mental health and family dynamics. Considering the central role of Iranian women within the family unit, their traditional and patriarchal gender role beliefs coming into an egalitarian society, and the great possibility of conflict arising between their traditional and American values, this dissertation focuses on the effects of changing/shifting gender role beliefs within one's family and one's sense of self. The aspirational goals of this clinical dissertation are to increase clinical psychologists' and other mental health professionals' knowledge of important issues impacting the experience of immigrant women, especially Iranian women, and to consequently improve the quality of services they receive from mental health professionals.
