Abstract : An internal combustion engine is a widely used machine to convert chemical energy stored in fossil fuel to work as output. There are mainly two intake methods for the engines. A traditional naturally aspirated engine is when the intake air flows in naturally without any helping force. A forced induction engine is when the intake air is assisted by a compressor or a blower to boost the pressure of the intake air into the combustion cylinder. The supercharger is a screw type compressor that is connected to the crankshaft of the engine using a belt or chain. It uses part of the output power of the engine to run the compressor and boost the intake air pressure.
