Abstract : Research has indicated increased levels of stress in caregivers raising children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), compared to caregivers of typically developing (TD) children and children with other developmental disabilities (DD; Dabrowska & Pisula, 2010). However, this research has not been conducted in many specific minority ethnic or cultural groups, such as the Arab American community. The Arab American community is one of the fastest growing yet least studied ethnic communities in the U.S. No research has been conducted specifically exploring ASD in this population (Al Khateeb, Al Hadidi, & Al Khatib, 2014a). The current study explored acculturation, stigma, stress and coping factors in Arab American caregivers raising children with ASD.
