Michael J. Brodhead's new biography of Isaac C. Parker (1838-1896) provides a thorough study of the nationally recognized judge's twenty-year career in the courts of Arkansas. As Brodhead demonstrates, Parker became a major figure in the legal history of the American West. This decusses the valuable discussions of Parker's important decisions in his career from 1875 to 1896 as a federal judge in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
