The trend towards partnership between higher education and other education providers is a dominant theme of 1990s education. Political attention has focused on initial teacher training, but in this book, the authors argue for a policy of professional development which links initial teacher education, continuing professional development, and research. Written by experienced teachers and teacher educators, this book examines current practice and discusses the policy and practical management issues which need to be addressed in planning and managing career-long teacher education, development and research within a partnership framework. This is a significant contribution to the debate surrounding partnership and will be of interest to all those who have responsibility for managing professional development in education.
