Crisell provides a concise and accessible history of British radio and television and considers the nature and evolution of broadcasting, the growth of broadcasting institutions and the relation of broadcasting to a wider political and social context. He also analyses the current state of broadcasting in Britain and argues that the era of traditional broadcasting is coming to an end. Recent developments in satellite, cable, information technology and telecommunications are discussed.
